Impacted foreign body ear removal
Foreign body in the ear gets impacted commonly in the anterior recess portion of the external auditoy canal. Spherical foreign bodies are more susceptible to get impacted in the anterior recess portion. Since children are highly apprehensive and may not cooperate, impacted foreign bodies are best removed under general anesthesia.
This video clipping shows impacted bead being removed from the anterior recess of the external auditory canal. Here the foreign body was lodged in the middle ear after perforating the pars tensa portion of the ear drum.
